It has been a pleasure working with Scott.  Scott has an enviable and niche knowledge of law in the life sciences sector.  I highly value Scott’s attention to detail and also the 1:1 face to face discussions that really cement the exact needs of his clients.  In addition, Scott is extremely personable and makes the process as slick as can be.  The above skills and attributes make it simple to ‘talk the same language’ and thus providing a platform to finding the perfect solution.  I look forward to calling on Scott’s expertise again.

I have instructed Scott on several occasions to work on legal agreements and provide advice, each with significant degrees of IP complexity.  He has found solid and creative solutions – delivered on time – in each case.  I have also sought his expert opinion on a number of other IP related issues and he has been unfailingly helpful.  I have no hesitation in recommending Scott as a high quality, knowledgeable, client centred IP lawyer, who is able to pick up technical issues with the utmost ease.

I have known Scott for over 15 years and have always found him to be highly approachable, open-minded, and knowledgeable.  He has completed work for both Medilink, expertly drafting one of our most significant agreements, as well as undertaking work for many of our member companies, being able to put complicated legal and technical subject matter into plain English, creating many satisfied clients in the process.  His knowledge of life sciences makes him one of the leading legal life sciences experts, and a real asset to our sector in the Midlands.  I would have no hesitation in recommending Scott to any of our members.

Scott has worked with Carrick since 2015.  As one of a number of advisors utilised by Carrick, Scott has been responsible for drafting multiple documents and providing valuable advice as part of Carrick’s clinical programmes, including its drug development programmes, clinical consultancies, MSAs, MTAs, collaborations, study start-ups, and agreements for phases 1 and 2 clinical trials in the United Kingdom and United States.  I and the whole Carrick team have always found Scott’s approach to this demanding work to be methodical, thorough, and delivered to the highest standards.  Scott is an extremely dedicated, responsive and intelligent lawyer, with excellent client and attorney handling skills.

I first met Scott in March 2010, while working on a spin out from the University of Nottingham.  Scott was advising the company on IP contracts and due diligence and seeing him in action made me appreciate his considerable skill set.  In complex negotiations, he was representing the new company with its first major client, Johnson & Johnson, and in a great deal he secured quarterly payments in advance, which considerably assisted cash flow.  Johnson & Johnson also became a shareholder in the business, requiring some care by Scott in negotiating a contract at arms-length, and not prejudicing future contracts with other Big Pharma companies.  Scott steered a difficult path in ensuring the best interests of the new company and its management were maintained, sometimes in quite difficult meetings.  He did this by the deployment of firm, fact based argument, tact and diplomacy.  I have subsequently worked with Scott on other projects and I have found him consistently knowledgeable, measured, a clear communicator and good company.  He isn’t patronising, he speaks plainly, without jargon, and he is cost conscious.  He focuses on delivering solutions not raising obstacles.  When clients have an IP related issue Scott is the ‘go to’ guy.

Scott Farnsworth has been an outstanding legal advocate and IP lawyer for me in the various life science and pharmaceutical companies I have founded and worked in, over the past 15 years.  Scott was chosen by me and my colleagues after considerable time spent researching other local and UK based legal firms.  Scott has proven himself on many occasions to be one of the country’s most talented lawyers in the life sciences sector.  Furthermore, Scott has a vast amount of business experience with international companies, which he is able to use to enhance and enable business dealings between companies in the UK, Europe, and the USA.  Scott’s experience and knowledge has considerably enhanced all of our business dealings and he is always our first choice for legal work in the areas of IP and contracts.

I am the founder and director of deVOL Kitchens Ltd, deVOL Kitchens USA Inc, Floors of Stone Ltd and Shreddies Ltd.  My companies hold several patents, registered designs, trademarks and claim unregistered design rights across a broad section of product areas, from furniture, to flatulence filtration and chemical warfare suits.  I have been employing the services of Scott Farnsworth for the past 6 years.  In that time Scott has advised my companies with the drafting of many IP agreements.  deVOL also instructed Scott in the landmark IP case of deVOL Kitchens Limited v Neptune (Europe) Limited: [2017] EWHC 2172 (Pat), in which deVOL won on all 11 claimed infringements of design rights and a registered design, and received substantial compensation.  More recently Scott has advised deVOL on the drafting of an international TV contract, negotiating with US attorneys, whose standard terms are not compatible with UK law.  I thoroughly enjoy every email, phone call and meeting I have with Scott: he is a gentleman, pragmatic and fair with a congenial approach, as well as both warm and witty.  I have no hesitation in wholeheartedly recommending his services.
