Knowledgeable in all areas of United Kingdom and Community registered and unregistered design rights, Scott Farnsworth is well known for his attention to the technical aspects of design law and practise regarding abstraction, configuration, derivation, methods of construction, and copying with attention to competitor and sector activity, design amendment, ownership, validity, and infringement.  Scott’s advice and written work in the design field often combines with associated aspects of patent law: he has appeared frequently before the Patents Court, the IPEC, and the Designs Registry and represented clients in mediations and arbitrations across the United Kingdom.

Scott’s recent instructions have comprised of contentious, and non-contentious subject matter, working with designers and engineers to develop, protect, and exploit design pipelines and platforms in the fields of ceramics, chemical engineering, clean tech products, skin-based drug delivery systems, kitchen design, electro-mechanical devices and components, integrated wheel and suspension systems, medical devices for surgical bleeding and wound therapy, HVAC systems, systems for non-chemical water filtration, security packaging and printing, surgical apparatus and components, and textiles and garments, including CBRN resistant clothing (for private or Crown use).
